hey friend!!

I'm so glad you stumbled upon my blog! My name is Elena, and it's so great to meet you. I love Jesus, my fam, the color pink, and jamming out to Ben Rector. Grab a snack and a fuzzy blanket, and let's talk!

I've grown up and lived in Missouri all my life. It's beautiful here! Originally, I'm the oldest of two, but in 2013 we welcomed a little girl into our family, and then four became five. It's been bit of a roller coaster in most ways, but I wouldn't want it any other way!

I'm currently a Junior in high school. I honestly can't believe it! I am involved in FBLA, Student Council, Choir, and Interact Club.

In my spare time, I love reading inspirational books, listening to podcasts, planning, creating, and encouraging people. I'm a little quiet when you first meet me, but when you get to know me, I'm super bubbly and love to try new things!

I'm definitely working on becoming more authentic in all I do. I'm naturally a people pleaser, so it can be very difficult for me to be myself without feeling like I have to be who everybody wants me to be. Can you relate? I've also had my run with anxiety. I feel for you if you experience it every once in a while, hardly ever, or every day. I'm also working to gain victory in that area of my life too. One of my favorite songs we sing in church is actually called "Victory in Jesus," which I think is really fitting :)

Teen Christian Living was started a couple years ago as a school project. I didn't really think it would be anything more, but I proved myself wrong! Growing up, I was discouraged to find a lack of Christians who not only taught others but lived the gospel out in a way I could relate to. I wanted to create a little space on the internet that combined everyday life (beauty, health, goal setting etc.) with a Christian perspective.

Christianity isn't a title or something in your Insta bio, it's truly a lifestyle. Christian life isn't perfect, and it's most certainly not a highlight reel. Instead, it's what's in between the mountain tops- the everyday, ordinary stuff. It's the hardest job in the world, but the upside is that you get to be surrounded by the most encouraging people ever. Best of all, bare each other's burdens, lift each other up, and spread the gospel. This blog (and let's be honest, my life) aren't about me. It's not about what I get to do or if my dreams are all accomplished before I'm 20 or whatever. What it is is a tribute to God. It's my hope that God uses my life as a vessel for the gospel story. While it may be my name on the cover, it's not about me, but instead all about God. He's the reason I've come as far as I have and continue to grow. I hope that in the sharing of my crazy life you can find inspiration, encouragement, and hope during an especially crazy world.

A plus about running a blog is that you get the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people! I hope that no matter who you are, you feel welcomed here in this community of women who want to get better in all aspects of our lives and know God even better. It's tough, it's not always pretty, but it's wonderful to share with others!

Finally, the question I know a lot of y'all might be wondering: what denomination am I apart of?  I'm actually not a member of any denomination, but the church of Christ. Before you start down the Google search train about our history, I'll spare you the work!  It's simply Christ's church, the one he bought and purchased with his blood. Our call (and all of mankind's) is to get to Heaven and help others get there too. We do our best to live straight out of the Bible. We pattern our lives after the New Testament (the second part of the Bible, the New Law) and the story of Jesus. We don't have a president or headquarters, just a bunch of imperfect people worshiping a perfect Father. We can read in the Bible that you must hear the gospel, believe that Jesus is the Christ, confess that he is the Christ, the son of the living God, repent of our past lifestyle of sinfulness, be baptized (totally immersed water) and live faithfully until Jesus comes back.

I'm super excited to start blogging (after a very long break) and to get to know y'all more and more!

Hugs,

  Elena ♡
